River Empress Review

Rarestone seems hellbent on flooding both the asian and western market with their Fire Blaze Jackpot games, and there is no end in sight for this series. The math model sticks to the usual formula here, and the only novelty is found in the bonus round. This has become a hallmark of the Fire Blaze saga, as the main attraction will, with few exceptions, be the Hold & Spin jackpot feature.

We have given up hope of this series ever taking a totally unexpected turn, or somehow being lifted to a new level. Rarestone has carved out a niche for themselves, and they stick to it like stink on a monkey. They probably wouldn’t be doing this unless a certain segment of players enjoy what can best be described as the “same old, same old”, but with enough of a twist to make each game somewhat unique.

River Empress slot Features

The Empress herself is the wild symbol in this game, and she will step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combinations. The wild can land on reels 2 to 5 during the base game, and many times you will land a stack of 3 wilds on the same reel. The wilds will then merge together to display the Empress in her full splendor.

Whenever you land 3 of the pink lotus scatter, you will be presented with a choice of 4 different color lotus flowers. This is called the River of Flowers feature, and it will either award you with the regular free spins round, or you will trigger the Fire Blaze Respins Jackpot feature.

You will get either 4, 6 or 10 free spins, with 50, 100 or 200 extra wilds added to the reel strips during the feature. You will get the same amount of extra spins as what you originally triggered when you land at least 3 new scatters on a free spin. You cannot trigger the Fire Blaze Respins feature on a free spin, but wilds can land on all 5 reels.

There are 2 ways to trigger the Fire Blaze Respins feature. The way we’ve already mentioned above, and by landing at least 6 pearl symbols anywhere on the same spin. All Pearl symbols come with cash values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x or 50x your stake.

Only blanks, jackpot stars or Money Pearls will land during the Fire Blaze Hold & Win feature. Every new Pearl symbol you land, or jackpot star, will reset the number of respins to 3 again. The feature ends when you run out of spins, or when you fill the screen with nothing but Money Pearls.

The latter lands you the Grand Jackpot of 2,000x your stake. In addition, all Pearl prizes will be summed up, just like if you run out of spins. Any jackpot star (or stars) will randomly award the Mini, Minor or Major jackpot of 20x, 100x and 500x your stake, respectively. You can win more than one of these smaller jackpots per feature.

Review Summary

Rarestone keeps churning out Fire Blaze Respin Jackpot games like there is no tomorrow, and they seem unconcerned about the success rate of each title.

The math model is similar to most of the other games, with a 2,000x jackpot (plus additional money symbol wins and/or smaller jackpot wins on top). You also get a free spins feature with extra wilds here, and that’s pretty much it. The asian theme is nicely done with beautiful autumn colors, but we don’t see this series taking a radical new direction any time soon.
