Mega Flip Review
Although it’s definitely inspired by classic fruit machines, Mega Flip from Relax Gaming is far from a classic slot by any measure. If you look past the fruity symbols and the glossy exterior, you’ll find an innovative and smoothly running modern video slot here, and you can look forward to 2 main bonus features that are sort of intertwined. The math model is solid too, but let’s cover some basics first.
It all plays out on a 2-2-3-3-4-4 grid setup, at least in the base game, and Mega Flip slot comes with 108 fixed ways to win. The neon/disco visuals will remind you about equally of a 70’s dance floor and an 80’s arcade, and the bright and colorful fruit symbols are juicy enough to make your mouth water for the big wins. The soundtrack and sound effects are pleasing to the ear for sure, and we never even considered turning off either of them during our 200 spins test session.
You’ll see a lot of the re-spins feature here, and this helps keep the base game interesting. In fact, it can be hard to land bigger wins without the re-spins feature, as the symbol values are pretty low. There is a progressive multiplier that also comes into play during the feature, and in the bonus round (when the reels flip) you will get re-spins on every winning spin. It’s possible to win as much as 5,943 times your stake here, but you’re in for a volatile ride that might be surprisingly unforgiving at times.

What symbols are there?
None of the symbols stick their neck out when it comes to values, but the triple lucky red 7s are still the most valuable symbol here. All the symbols are classic fruit machine symbols you’ve probably seen many times before, and there are no royal symbols in this game. The lower value symbols are 3 different fruit items, and you need between 3 and 6 matching symbols on a payline to win. Here is what the paytable for Mega Flip slot looks like:
- Triple red 7s - Pay 2x for 6 on a payline
- Blue star - Pay 1x for 6 on a payline
- 4-leaf clover - Pay 0.6x for 6 on a payline
- Bell - Pay 0.4x for 6 on a payline
- Cherries - Pay 0.3x for 6 on a payline
- Orange - Pay 0.3x for 6 on a payline
- Plum - Pay 0.3x for 6 on a payline
What are the bonus features?
The defining bonus feature in this game is definitely the Re-spin feature, and you’ll see plenty of it as you spin the reels. You’ll soon notice an extra horizontal reel (it’s more like a display, really) down below reels 1 and 2, and this is where the word “Re-spin” will keep rolling on every spin.
The horizontal display reel can either land blanks (symbolized by “- - - -”), or the word “Re-spin”.
If you land the word Re-spin together with a winning combination on the regular reels, this will trigger the Re-spin feature. The winning symbols then become sticky, and you get additional respins as long as you keep adding to the original winning combo.Above each reel you’ll see a multiplier value starting at 2x for the first reel, and ending at 7x for the sixth and last reel. The multiplier can be turned on during the Re-spins feature, and you activate it by filling a reel completely with the triggering matching symbol. However, this needs to be done in sequential order to work. Let’s illustrate by looking at an example.
You can fill all the reels up to reel 6, and it will not help if you’ve not filled reel 1. However, if your next respin fills reel 1, you will benefit from the 7x multiplier from reel 6. In other words, only the highest achieved multiplier value will apply to your total winnings. The multiplier values for reels 1 to 6 are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, and 7x.
Free spins in Mega FlipYou need to land at least 3 of the diamond scatter symbol to trigger the free spins bonus round here, and this gives you 8 free spins.
Every extra diamond scatter you land above the minimum of 3 gives you 2 extra spins. In theory, this could lead to 8 + 30 free spins, or 38 in total, but this would require you to fill all reel positions with nothing but diamond scatters. The whole reel setup will now be flipped horizontally, which means it looks like this: 4-4-3-3-2-2 (instead of the regular 2-2-3-3-4-4 setup). The horizontal Re-spin display will now always show the “re-spin” text, which means any winning combination during the bonus round will automatically trigger the Re-spins feature.
Also the progressive multiplier rules have been somewhat softened up in the free spins feature. You no longer have to fill up the reels in sequential order to benefit from a multiplier. You can, for example, fill up reel 4 and this will trigger the 2x multiplier above the first reel. In other words, it’s a lot easier to benefit from the multipliers than during the base game Re-spins feature.
You can also retrigger the bonus round, and you do this by landing at least 3 diamond scatters on a free spin.
This gives you 4 new spins, and 2 extra spins for every diamond scatter you land above the minimum of 3. The progressive multiplier scale will also increase one increment up for each retrigger, meaning that it will look like 3x to 8x after one retrigger, and so forth with no upper limit. How to play
Relax Gaming has a neat and modern game interface, and all the stuff you need is found on the right-hand side of the reels. We shall here take a closer look at everything you can adjust in this game, and thus get you ready to spin the reels in no-time. Experienced players might consider skimming through this part, but new players and beginners should probably read the whole thing.
We’ll start at the bottom of the stack of buttons you’ll see to the right, and this is the hamburger menu. It takes you right into the paytable with the symbol values on display first, and further down you’ll find info about the 2 main bonus features of this game. The paytable is dynamic, which means the symbol values change according to your chosen bet level, and it shows how much you win per total stake for each combination.
Click the gear icon to get to the game settings, and here you can adjust things like sound effects, music, using the spacebar to spin and toggle off the intro screen. The Quick spin feature is nowhere to be found in the settings, but you will get that option by continuously clicking the spin/stop button while the reels are spinning (or via the double arrow icon in the top right corner) .
The . icon takes you into the game rules, which are relatively short and easy to read through in this game. The time has finally come to choose your bet level between 20p and £100, and then you need to decide if you want to spin the reels manually, or set up the autoplay feature. You can choose between 10 and 1,000 autospins, or even “eternal” spins, if you so desire. You can also stop the autoplay feature automatically when you win or lose a given amount.

The 200 Spins Mega Flip Experience
Innovation is always exciting, and we knew from the get-go that this was no ordinary fruit slot. For this reason alone we were eager to get started with our 200 spins test run of Mega Flip, and we loaded in the game with great anticipation. We set the bet level to £1 per spin, turned on the fast play option and loaded up the autoplay with 250 spins.
On the “oddly satisfying” gameplay scale, we would say Mega Flip is a good medium to high (with quick spin turned on, that is), as the game flows smoothly with a nice pace to it. The Re-spins feature is triggered quite often, as we expected, but many times it does not really amount to much in terms of winnings.
Our first 100 spins was rather uneventful at first, but towards the end interesting things started to happen. Suddenly the Re-spins feature triggered, and we watched the screen fill up more and more with the medium level bell symbol. We now had only 1 reel position left to fill on the entire screen, and unfortunately this had to be on reel 1.
Low and behold, the final respin did not land a bell symbol. Therefore we won only around 21x, when we could have landed a massive 7 x 43.2 = 302.4x win via the 7x multiplier that we barely missed. That’s the kind of disappointment this game can dish out, but the opposite is also true, of course.
After this, we had a few semi-similar situations involving a 4x and 5x multiplier, but we ended up winning between 16x and 26x each time. We broke even more or less to the desimal after 100 spins, and nothing much happened for 50 spins, or so, after that. Then we finally managed to trigger the bonus round with 3 scatters, and this gave us 8 free spins.
The reel setup flipped, which was kind of neat, and after a few warm up spins things started to really heat up. We had 2 mega wins of around 50x each, almost filling the screen each time and benefitting from medium sized multipliers. In the end we got away with a 108.65x total win, which was enough to once again break us even. All in all, an exciting and entertaining session, and we wish you the best of luck with your first spins on Mega Flip slot.
Review Summary
Mega Flip is a game that it’s very easy to relax with, and the gameplay and visuals are pleasing to the eye. The high volatility does not seem all that brutal (at least not to us), but you do need the respin feature multiplier to have a realistic chance at bigger wins here. Of course, the bonus round drastically increases your odds for just that, and the flipping of the reel setup is quite an original and cool feature that adds to the edgy vibe of this game. Will it be the slot of the year. Probably not, but it’s still a solid and somewhat innovative game that fans of Twin Spin, Neon Staxx and Starburst will probably enjoy.
Pros
- Re-spins with sticky symbols and progressive multiplier
- Free spins with flipped grid and re-spins on each win
- High volatility and 5,493x max win potential
Cons
- High “missed-opportunity frustration” factor

There are plenty of fruit slots out there for people who enjoy these kinds of games. However, we have decided to recommend something else instead, as we don’t really see Mega Flip as a classic fruit slot. It has more in common with 3 NetEnt classics (at least in terms of the theme, feel and vibe of the game), and these are the games we want to highlight for you here.
Neon Staxx - could be described as the slightly more volatile cousin of Starburst, and the main attraction is the stacked symbols you’ll see plenty of here. Neon colors and fast-paced action is the name of the game, and you can win up to 400x your stake. Not a massive potential for sure, but good enough for this kind of volatility.
Twin Spin - can be seen as another cousin of almighty Starburst (and of Neon Staxx), but you’re in for a rougher ride with this game. The volatility is medium to high, but you can also win up to 1,080x your stake. The main attraction is the identical twin reels that keep landing, and they will sometimes expand to cover the whole grid.
Starburst - is the most popular game ever made, and has remained on top of the charts for a long time. The Expanding Sticky Wild Re-spins feature is the main attraction here, and it’s somewhat in the same ballpark as the respins feature on Mega Flip (but then again, not really). Still, this is the king of the slot hill, and players keep returning for more time and time again.

Yes, and this is when the reel setup flips horizontally to a 4-4-3-3-2-2 setup, and the re-spins feature is triggered on every win.

Filling the screen with red triple 7s pays 216x your stake, which means that you can win up to 1,512x your stake on a single spin via the 7x multiplier. The biggest total win landed during the bonus round (from Relax Gaming’s internal testing) was 5,493x.
